AI now helps decide who gets a loan, which CVs are read and what customers are told. When it goes wrong, the harm falls on people: unfair treatment, exposed personal data, deception and fraud. This practical self-study course gives every professional the knowledge and habits to use AI responsibly, whether you build AI services, buy them or simply use AI assistants at work.
Across eight lessons you follow a realistic case study: Hadba Microfinance in Mosul, where a customer complaint reveals that the company's loan pre-screening score has been rejecting women at a far higher rate than men. The Head of Risk and Compliance leads the response, from finding the cause to fixing the score, cleaning up a chatbot that collected too much data, stopping a deepfake payment fraud and building simple routines that let the company use more AI with more trust. You will learn the six principles of responsible AI and who is responsible for what, the five sources of bias and how proxies and feedback loops work, public cases including the Amazon CV tool, the Gender Shades study and the Dutch childcare benefits scandal, four practical bias tests including the fairness ratio and the swap test, ways to reduce bias, what counts as personal data, seven data protection principles, the position of privacy law in Iraq, a five-question privacy check, six AI security threats, prompt injection, deepfakes and the call-back rule, limits for AI agents, shadow AI, disclosure and explanation, the Air Canada chatbot ruling, automation bias and meaningful human oversight, a five-question ethics test, the OECD, UNESCO, NIST and ISO/IEC 42001 frameworks, the EU AI Act and its current deadlines, a one-page AI use assessment and incident handling. The course includes three narrated ISHTAR videos in English and Arabic, curated expert videos, 33 bilingual diagrams including animated ones, worked examples, exercises and knowledge checks, and ends with a 25-question final exam.
